What is Pearl Power?
We started in 2011 as a group of women who wanted to do something to mentor the girls in our small town to increase their chances of making a success in life.
We define a successful life as one where you learn to love learning, get a great education, pursue the work you were born to do, and have healthy, lasting relationships, prosper and become a contributor. For several years we put on an annual live event, called "Pearl Power Academy" that was sort of an extended charm school meets life skills camp. It was awesome and we saw sea change in the girls that participated. The results were far more dramatic and lasting than we even dared to dream.
That has encouraged us to do more. So, we are now working on publishing our curriculum so that other moms, teachers, youth leaders (or whomever) in other places could do the same thing for their girls. We figure if we make our book, videos, and other materials available, it blows the roof off of how many girls we can reach. And since we learned some useful stuff through trial-and-error along the way, we figure we can make it more fun for them as well as effective.
We cover all the important topics: journaling, your spiritual life, why purity is critical, how to find your calling, how to interview for jobs, how to fast-track once you are hired, how to choose a GREAT guy (and what to look out for that might mean he's a toad rather than a prince), how to move out on your own, how to manage your money, nutrition, citizenship, etiquette, fitness, how to take care of your car...in fact, everything we could think of that you might need to know to have the best life possible. But it's not all serious business. We also love things like how to do your nails, put on makeup, choose a wardrobe, throw parties, and make great friends that last a lifetime.
We do shoot from the hip when it comes to telling the truth, but we also make it entertaining. Keep an eye on us so you'll know when our new videos and books come out. We are thinking about doing a podcast, too. We are also open to your suggestions of topics you'd like us to cover.
Remember: Nobless oblige! That's our motto, and it means "nobility obligates." That means, since we consider ourselves to be the best of the best, we have a duty, as well as the privilege, of helping others come to the place of living in the blessing, too.
